In reality it isn’t. I have been to Seattle a couple of times now and it was never raining. It may be overcast, but not raining. I think that there is a general idea that the West Coast of Canada and Washington (USA) are always raining, but I’m sorry to tell you that it is definitely incorrect…
p.s Back in Canada now…Oregon was great & spent a bit of time in Vancouver too. Will get some photos organised one day.

Before I started working in the industry I believed that the real perks would be that I always got really cheap tickets and holidays, but now I realise that you have to have time to take these holidays and that isn’t always an option. Employers don’t want their staff always on holidays!
There are plenty of industry specials out there, but unfortunately you can’t drop everything just to get a cheap fare!
Imagine if every person in the travel industry was able to participate in the specials…there would never be anyone working!

This couldn’t be more far from the truth!
I lived in Amsterdam for 3 months and the only ‘high’ people I saw were sitting in coffee shops (& no, the main product isn’t coffee). It is actually considered rude to smoke marijuana anywhere except in coffee shops.
And in the 3 months I was there I wasn’t approached by anyone selling any type of drug! The only reminder that you have is when you are walking down the street and you smell the aromas as you walk past and you realise that you just infront of a coffee shop.
It is definately not in your face all the time as many of my friends thought it would be. My only suggestion would be to not get a Cafe & a Coffee Shop mixed up.

I’m sorry to break the bubble on this one, but it just simply isn’t true…I know maybe 2 people that say ‘Mate’ and I have only ever heard G’day Mate once or twice but this isn’t a saying that everyone says.
Unfortunately with people like Steve Irwin and stereo types like Crocodile Dundee out in the world, it’s no wonder people think that Aussies talk like that.
P.S - Another little myth - there aren’t koalas or kangaroos in peoples backyards and down the streets…I have only ever seen wild kangaroos in the bush a few times and koalas are quite hard to find.

This is not true! When I was living in Vancouver, the summer temperatures got up towards the 30 degrees celcius mark and this is the same for the rest of Canada too. The average temperature in summer would be about 22-25 degrees
Yes, Canada does get cold in winter and it does snow (even in Vancouver), but it is no like this year round.
It is amazing how people think that because it snows sometimes, that it is cold throughout the year…this just isn’t true!
